Shadanga Paniyam is a liquid medicine prepared out of six Ayurvedic medicines. Shadanga Paniyam is a famous formulation cited by Acharya Charaka in the treatment of Jwara (Fever). It is widely used all over Bharat by Ayurvedic Physicians in the treatment of fever. Due to aggravation of pitta, when patient feel thirsty in fever, Shadanga Paniyam works very well. It relieves the patient from the annoying feature & also alleviates the fever. It is very good Pachana medicine, that’s why in Navajwara, for digesting the Ama, it is administered from the first day under ‘Langhana’ upkrama. It also relieves burning sensation in the body related to fever.

Many modern day practitioners have found Shadanga Paniyam very useful in all types of bacterial as well as viral fevers. It also improves the tastelessness associated with fever.

Shadanga Paniyam is very good Rasadoshapachaka i.e. it frees Rasadhatu from all of its impurities. Hence Shadanga Paniyam can be used without any doubt. Hrudroga, Pratishyaya are some of the diseases, where Rasadushti is involved. Shadanga Paniyam can be used there. It can be administered frequently in the dose of 10 to 15 ml every hourly with equal quantity of warm water if the fever is not alleviating. Even after normalcy in fever, it should be continued twice daily further up to 21 days to counter the much annoying post fever weakness. Shadanga Paniyam can also be used in all types of dermatological disorders. It readily decreases the itching in skin lesions associated with eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, urticaria.
